Anthony Dettori

As the frontman of indie soul-rock trio The Sunburys, Anthony Dettori has forged a reputation for oldschool rock’n’roll attitude and strong musicianship, characterised by considered but unpretentious songwriting and spirited, sweaty performances.

In solo mode, he performs mellower, acoustic versions of songs from the band’s albums, as well as pluckier, more alt country tunes destined for forthcoming release.

Chanel Lucas

Emma Nixon and Tony Vandermeer

Evan’s folk music flame was ignited in the 60′s folk boom and has never gone out.

After 45 odd years of singing and playing Evan is considered to be one of folk’s elder statesmen. With a powerful voice, guitar and self built autoharps Evan takes you on a journey through humour, history, and social and political comment.

These big-busted bedazzled country gals return to help solve the problems of the love-lorn and love lost. Lock up your high-heels, your hairspray and your husbands, nothing is sacred as they twang their way through old fashioned and highly inappropriate country advice and straight into your hearts.

Husband and wife harmony duo characterised by an ever fresh approach to Bob’s originals and unique versions of other people’s songs.

The Jar

High energy folk band The Jar play traditional and contemporary Irish, Scottish and Australian music with the occasional pop classic thrown in.  You don’t need Whisky in this Jar. They are potent enough without it.

Keith Urquhart

Keith is one of our finest examples of the miracle of guitar playing.  He has perfected the beautiful blend of a subtle, melodic walking base line, cascading harmonics and rich, full power chords. Be chilled, relaxed, inspired and enthralled as Keith weaves his finger picking magic.

Lonnie Martin

A legendary performer in the Brisbane folk scene and beyond, Lonnie’s extraordinary, beautiful voice is powerful and compelling and strikes to the very soul. She is a superb performer able to move her audience with a repertoire that can be sad, thought-provoking, touching, funny and inspiring.  Lonnie is joined onstage at Neurum by festival guests to add their talents to hers.

Martin Pearson

The world’s funniest male, long-haired, Victorian, piscean folk singer, Martin is a very funny satirical performer. He has been amusing, even thrilling audiences around the globe for ages now, and if you haven’t seen him live – you’re missing out.  Martin has an ability to take current events and observations of everyday life, and turn them into side splitting comedy routines.

Ewan and Megan Mackenzie

Ewan is an extraordinary guitarist, an excellent singer and songwriter. His diverse musical progression began with playing bagpipes in a pipe band, through rock’n’roll, folk, country, blues, jazz and r&b; until he discovered Jazz Manouche, the campfire music of the Manouche Gypsies of Western Europe. At Neurum this year, Ewan is joined by Megan, his much-more-talented daughter. Megan writes, sings and plays mandolin, guitar and violin. Her influences are Gillian Welch, Niko Case and Ewan (naturally!)

Murphy’s Pigs

Irish, Scottish, Australian, Breton and Galician music – they play it all.  Guitars, fiddle, flute, whistles, bagpipes, banjo, drums, percussion, keyboards, mandolin and rich vocal harmonies combine to produce a powerful, distinctive and unforgettable sound.  Drawing on member’s backgrounds in rock, folk, jazz and blues the resulting music is diverse, delightful and dynamic.

Noel Gardner

Noel Gardner is a legend in his own lunch box. Alex Bridge on bass and harmony vocals and Wendy Hodgins on piano fill it to overflowing with tasteful delights that enhance the emotional flavour of the songs. Noel’s lyrics and voice will touch your heart with passion, candour and humour. Heartfelt songs in a velvet glove of music.

Pandora

Ann and Helen first worked together in the women’s band, Tangled Web.  Since then, they’ve continued to develop their musical connection over countless Friday mornings and cups of tea.  As a duo, Helen and Ann create an intimate performance with renditions of their own songs and tunes, and their favourites from other Australian songwriters.

Pineapple Palace & Queen Bee

Pineapple Productions creates LIVE music, theatre and arts experiences for children and families, the young and the young at heart, with a distinct sunshine state flavour…YUM!  Queen Bee Kerryanne Farrer is passionate about producing contemporary high calibre arts experiences for  children and their families.

The Poachers

The Poachers formed as a folk trio in 1998, played gigs and toured the Australian folk festival circuit for four years, releasing a critically acclaimed album in 2000. They are all back together again in Brisbane after an 8-year hiatus. British, Australian and US traditional folk, plus some contemporary trad-inspired and original songs.

Poms from Oz

The Poms from Oz tight harmony singing has that magic blend that only a family group can provide.   Moods and topics in their songs range from serious to quirky and the songs are gathered from many sources: self penned, contemporary and traditional.

Present Company

With a passion for organically created music, the unique sound of Present Company is created via bass fiddle, violin, mandolin, banjo, guitar and four voices which are blended, old style, through the single microphone that the boys dance around.

Something Else

The merging of two gifted, experienced folksingers who make beautiful music together. Anne Infante and Mary Brettell sing anything from traditional folk to country, originals, contemporary material – and everything in between. Their songs are selected on a strict principle – if they like it, if it lends itself to good harmony, if it’s fun – it’s in!

Soulman O’Gaia

Soulman O’Gaia has an uncanny ability to engage the very soul of an audience. An incredible performer with a wonderful energy. His dynamic hard-driving rhythms on guitar move from toe tapping funk and blues, to gutsy rock’n’roll, taking a journey through folksy balladeering all the way to Caribbean reggae. When Soulman sings you see the intensity of emotion on his face, the joy in his smile, and the soulful stirring of rootsy, gospel blues of his ancestral lineage.

Spot the Dog

Spot The Dog’s distinctive style of Australian roots music draws on the deep music traditions of country, folk, rock and soul to create a sound that is earthy and sincere.

Steve Tyson and the Industrious Felons

The band performs contemporary story-based folksongs from Steve’s recently released solo album, with nods to roots and jazz, delivered with innovative musicianship, heart and soul. Songs inspired by Steve’s journeys through exotic locations such as India, Russia, and Japan are interspersed with tales of post 9-11 trauma, family skeletons, caustic political satire, and matters of the heart.

Stockade

A fabulous group featuring original music in the Roots/Blues and Folk Rock traditions, delivering songs, some with a humorous edge,  about  life, love and topical issues.  These musicians wow their audience with genuine captivating lyrics, outstanding harmonies and a feast of instrumental finesse.

Sunas

Súnas is a fiery four-piece Celtic band featuring multi-instrumentalists and exquisite four-part vocal harmonies. They play a unique and unforgettable blend of original, contemporary and traditional tunes and songs.

Tapestry

Sixteen voice a Capella choir drawing uts repertoire from diverse sources including early English madrigals and pastoral music through to contemporary, pop. Gospel and folk.

Tulca Mor

One of the best traditional Irish bands in Australia, Tulca Mor will sweep you away with their dynamic and well crafted performances. Featuring fiddle, flute and Uillean pipes backed by bouzouki and guitar, this top class quartet just love playing Irish music, sharing this enjoyment and passion with their audiences every step of the way.

Wayne & Rosie Tritton

Wayne has been writing, recording and performing for over two decades, both his own material and as a member of various bands. Blending rock credibility and pop sensibility, Wayne is unafraid to wear his influences on his sleeve.   Together with his uke-wielding wife, Rosie, this pair will deliver a cracker set – from power pop to alt country and beyond.
